Shunta Numano

Hi everyone, I am Shunta! I am a first-year student from Tokyo.

I'm running for Treasurer because I'm passionate about providing an experience with outstanding quality to everyone interested in Japan by organising funds. The experience at Japan Society has been amazing, and I am delighted to be part of this community. Not just unique events organised by the committee fascinate me. But building strong relationships with people who share the same interests regardless of their backgrounds is the best part. It is definitely one of the most important communities for me, and it feels like home to me.

So, I would love to dedicate myself to passing this significant culture within the community to the next generation and even pushing this community to the next stage.

To achieve my goal (making Japan society the best society at UCL), I would:

  • Organise a Japan Society dinner for every member from funds
  • Spend more money on cultural events allowing socialising between Japanese and non-Japanese members
  • Make the funds' information open to every community member
  • Have more discounts
  • Organise big events with Japan societies from other London universities (sports competitions, music festivals, etc)

My plans for the next year are not limited to these, and I am open to any suggestions from members.

I believe that I can make a huge impact on Japan society and promise to offer you a memorable time. So, please vote for me!

みんなで楽しく最高なコミュニティを一緒に作っていこう!! よろしく!!

Yuma Takahashi

Hi, I am Yuma Takahashi, a first-year UCL student studying BSc Anthropology!

I believe that I am suitable for the treasurer role in Japan Society for the following reasons. Firstly, I have a strong love for Japan society. As I am a Japanese citizen I grew up in Tokyo, and I have been to many of the events this year solely because I love the atmosphere, people, and the events that the society has to offer. As treasurer plays a central role in managing the society since they are responsible for all the financial stuff, a heavy burden will be put on whoever takes this role. However, I am confident that I will be able to cope and carry the burden joyfully as I strongly love the Japan society. Secondly, I believe that I have good task and time management skills. Even though I often procrastinate a bit for the assessments that have resulted in submitting them at the last minute, the fact that I survived through IB with tons of essays and exams could be proof that I have the ability to manage the tasks well within a given time.

So.. I promise you that I will do good as a treasurer if I win the election, and make Japan Society a better place for everyone!!

Sen Shan

Hello everyone!!!

I am Sen, a first year student studying Statistics, Economics and Finance.

I would love to be part of the committee to contribute to the Japan society for its success and growth. Our society fostered a strong sense of involvement for me, so I believe its standout quality lies in its inclusivity to our 400+ members representing diverse backgrounds. Therefore, My goal is to actively support our community.

Confident in my abilities, I am eager to be the treasurer. In my part-time job, I took charge of recording all receipts, honing a strong grasp of financial transactions. I've developed a foundation in accounting, using tools like Excel for efficient financial management. These experiences uniquely position me as an ideal candidate for the role.

My plan as a treasurer:

  1. Financial Management with Responsibility and Transparency:
  • Record all expenditure accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborate on strategic financial planning for long-term sustainability.
  • Allocate budgets for cost-effective and affordable events, and reserve a fund for Japanese language lessons.
  1. Support the president and other students:
  • Regularly engage with the president to ensure the smooth functioning of the society.
  • Create a friendly and open community for all members by addressing queries and offering necessary support.

I'm all in for the Japan Society! It would be an immense honor to serve as its treasurer. If you share my enthusiasm for our society, please vote for me!!
