Emily Fan

My skills and interests align perfectly for this role. I have 7 years of debate experience, with 3 as a debate coach and team captain, from which I have gained plenty of communication and teamwork skills. Most importantly, I have the ability to successfully lead, think on my feet, and to quickly adapt to changing circumstances. This makes me an excellent fit to be the Vice President for Mentorship. My experience in guiding newer debate members, encouraging their curiosity, and improving their confidence in finding their unique voice is easily transferable to this society. Furthermore, I won the Jefferies Stock Pitch Competition during the UCLIS Finance Conference held last year, demonstrating my commitment and abilities. As someone who greatly enjoys this society’s events and is personally inspired by the wide range of opportunities, I would love to use my skills as the Vice President of Mentorship to give back to the society, and to grow alongside it.

Alexander Mal

I am running to be Vice President of the Investment Society because I will work towards helping us all get our dream jobs in finance.

I will make sure that our society brings in more big-name speakers, improve the current mentorship program and make it the best in the UK, and diversify opportunities through the huge UCL Finance Conference.

Right now, the mentorship programme is limited to an intake of few students each year, which must be increased and diversified across the board.

My goal is to give you more chances to learn, meet important people, and get ready for our amazing future. Together, we will make our society even more amazing and help each other succeed in the finance world.

Yiven (Louis) Zhu
