Vir Pathak

Having lived in South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Germany, I have developed a real enthusiasm for meeting new people, especially those from varied cultures. This role in the investment society stands out to me as a great avenue to further develop upon this. Moreover, I hold a strong passion for investing with career aspirations in investment or asset management so the chance to be around people who share the same passion and ambition as me, is one I feel would be incredibly gratifying.

Furthermore, I have a strong background in event management which I feel could be valuable for this role. Notably, I organised the Movember program at my school, consisting of presentations to over 600 people, spearheaded several environmental projects and played a leading role in the Investment society at my school. Additionally, whilst living in China, I interned at China Crossroads, a company which runs many events to do with Finance, Economics and Politics, further enhancing my skillset. There, I had the privilege of assisting in the orchestration of talks featuring prominent figures ranging from consulate generals to start-up CEOs as well as senior executives from leading firms such as McKinsey. I believe that leveraging this rich experience will enable me to make meaningful contributions to this society by facilitating the hosting of important events for those looking to develop their investment knowledge or forge a career in Finance.

Thessabel Chang

As the Vice President of Events for UCLIS, my ambition is to bring a dynamic and inclusive approach to our event planning and execution. My goal is to create a diverse array of events that not only cater to the interests of our members across all academic stages but also foster a sense of community and belonging within UCLIS. From educational workshops that bridge the gap between theory and practice, to networking events that connect our members with industry leaders and alumni, and social gatherings that strengthen our bonds beyond academic pursuits, I aim to ensure that every event is meaningful and impactful.

Moyi Su

Hi everyone, my name is Moyi and I study Economics. I am running for the position of VP of Events at UCLIS.

Having been part of UCLIS as an analyst at UCLIF and involved in numerous events, I understand the positive and pivotal role UCLIS has for students interested in a finance career. This year’s experience helped me gain valuable insight into the financial world and prepared me with essential skills, so I hope to have the VP role in Events to allow everyone to freely network and learn from others.

In my current positions at UCLIF and LSC, accompanied by experience in organising MUN, NGO and Charity projects back in high school in Greece and establishing connections with top-tier Chinese enterprises during internship, I’ve organized collaboration across schools, coordinated logistics, and reached out to sponsors and speakers. Alongside my understanding of UCLIS’s inner intricacies, I’m equipped with the abilities necessary to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the VP of Events.

If I were to become the VP of Events, I would:

  • Sustain popular events like alumni networking sessions and pub socials for ongoing engagement.
  • Broaden our reach through cross-university events and increased collaboration with other societies.
  • Offer skill development bootcamp to enhance financial expertise among members.

Being an outgoing person with past event planning experiences and passion for finance, I believe I am a strong candidate for this role. Thank you :)))

Alexander Mal

I am running to be Vice President of the Investment Society because I will work towards helping us all get our dream jobs in finance.

I will make sure that our society brings in more big-name speakers, improve the current mentorship program and make it the best in the UK, and diversify opportunities through the huge UCL Finance Conference.

My goal is to give you more chances to learn, meet important people, and get ready for our amazing future. Together, we will make our society even more amazing and help each other succeed in the finance world.

Ishanvi Arora

My involvement as an executive and mentor in the investment society over the last year has deepened my interest and passion to contribute to this society. I plan to make changes in the committee's current work. I hope to use our foundation and enhance it to ensure the Investment Society is the place to be for anyone looking for a career in finance. I also aim to increase the socials we host to ensure that all members get adequate chances to network and meet like-minded individuals.

Here's why you should vote for me:

1. Elevating Our Society: I'll enhance our foundation to make our investment society the top choice for finance careers.

2. Empowering Your Success: I'll provide resources and support to help you thrive in finance.

3. Expanding Networking: More social events mean more chances to connect with others in the field.

4. Your Voice Matters: I'll advocate for ensuring our society meets your needs.

Together, let's make our investment society the best it can be.

I appreciate your support.

Shreyan Chohan

Hello, my name is Shreyan, and I am running for president of the UCL Investment Society. My journey within the society, from starting as a mentee to becoming a client relationship executive, has helped me understand the inner workings of the society. Through attending numerous events and actively participating in its activities, I have gained a deep understanding of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the team in helping society members deepen their financial knowledge through various initiatives such as through its events.

If elected, I plan to forge new relationships with different societies within the university. With this collaboration, there will be more networking events for members, possibly allowing them to explore new career paths. I further plan to expand on the current UCLIS events such as through collaborating with different university's investment societies as well as hosting events with my current placement firm, and new partner ones.

Having been in numerous society positions beginning in Sixth Form, and a culmination of my interests including finance, I believe  I am an ideal candidate for this role and look forward to helping contribute towards the success of the society.

Josh Chan

As a biomedical engineering student, despite my academic concentration on engineering, the complex world of finance has always attracted me, driving me to pursue chances that combine the two fields.

Being someone who has actively participated in fireside chats and workshop events from various societies across universities, I completely understand the demands and expectations of attendees and how the events may be improved.

As the Vice President of Events, my main goal is to attract and invite influential figures not just from the financial industry such as investment banks and private equity firms, but also executives from S&P 500 companies that oversee their company's financial assets. Hosting fireside chats and events that allow members from all disciplines an opportunity to network with industry experts and gain insight into their daily work. In addition, inviting UCL alumni to offer informative seminars to help members grow their careers in finance and enhance their skills.

By doing so, I intend to work with our committee to develop a fully automatic booking system for our fireside chat and workshop events, a poll system that allows members to vote for their next preferred speaker. Prioritising the questions of participants towards the speaker using an online questionnaire system during fireside chat events. As well as expanding our society's exposure to the industry through professional networks such as LinkedIn, and attracting various sponsors who can fund our events.
