Alexander Mal

I am running to be the President of the Investment Society because I will work towards helping us all get our dream jobs in finance.

I will make sure that our society brings in more big-name speakers, improve the current mentorship program and make it the best in the UK, and diversify opportunities through the huge UCL Finance Conference.

Right now, the mentorship programme is limited to an intake of few students each year, which must be increased and diversified across the board.

My goal is to give you more chances to learn, meet important people, and get ready for our amazing future. Together, we will make our society even more amazing and help each other succeed in the finance world.

Himanshu Keshari

Dear Investment Society Members,

I’m Himanshu Keshari, a second-year economics student. Having been an active member of the Investment Society for the past two years, I am motivated to continue the legacy forward:) Through active participation in panel events and networking sessions to securing spring offers from Bain Capital Credit and BP, I have gained a deeper understanding of society’s functioning.

Combined with my experience as UCL’s Societies Officer’24 and Strategy Consultant at LSC, I have gained extensive leadership and execution skills to help me succeed in the role! My top-most priority includes:

  • Industry Engagement and Knowledge Sharing: Ensuring that our members receive high-quality training resources, courses and guidance/tutorials is at the heart of every Investment Society event! I aim to organise regular seminars and workshops featuring industry experts, alumni, and faculty to provide insights into finance and investments.
  • Mentorship and Investment competitions: After receiving mentorship guidance from JP Morgan and Schroder's, I realised that our members should have access to top-notch mentors helping them succeed in their careers! And yes, as the finalist of 5+ business competitions, I aim to host multiple inter-society investment competitions.
  • Networking and Alumni Outreach events:  I aim to organize networking events, such as coffee chats, mixers, and speed networking to foster connections with professionals and members. This will facilitate members’ career development and strengthen our

I am passionate about our society and its mission. As President, I will lead with integrity, transparency, and inclusivity. I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that our society continues to thrive. I am excited about the opportunity to serve as your President and to lead our society to new heights.

Thessabel Chang

My journey the past 2 years at Investment Society has been both enriching and transformative, evolving from a mentee to a mentor, and serving as a welfare officer. This progression has not only allowed me to understand the core functions of our society but also to identify areas where we can grow and improve, for that I have implemented a 5 Point Plan.

1. Charitable Engagement

I aim to integrate philanthropic activities into our society's agenda, leveraging our skills and resources to make a meaningful difference.

2. Fostering Community

I propose more social events to bridge the gap between committee members and society members. These gatherings will be platforms for sharing experiences, knowledge, and fostering a sense of belonging among all members.

3. Targeted Events

I plan to organize events specifically designed for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Masters students. These events will cater to the unique challenges and opportunities at each academic stage, ensuring relevant and impactful experiences for all members.

4. Inter-university Collaboration

I aim to increase inter-university and inter-society events. Such initiatives will enhance networking, provide new perspectives, and open doors to collaborations and opportunities beyond UCL.

5. Enhancing Professional Development

Lastly, I want to introduce more workshops and sessions focused on practical skills and industry insights. This will include resume-building workshops, mock interviews, and talks by industry professionals.

Tom Cox

I am standing for the position of President, as I am driven by my interest in finance and my aspiration to build a career in Sales within an investment bank. I am keen continue the good work of the Investment Society and continue leading the growth of this society. My academic journey in History, Politics, and Economics has not only provided me with a robust foundation in understanding global macro trends and political dynamics but has also honed my analytical skills, enabling me to assess and interpret complex financial data effectively.

My passion for finance goes beyond academia; to participate in JP Morgan Insight Days, and work as an Investment Analyst in the Equities division for the UCL Investment Fund. JP Morgan offered me a glimpse into the real-world operations of a leading investment bank, from intricate financial modeling to the culture within an investment bank, whilst my teams pitch on Airbus was deemed worthy to be sent to BNP Paribus for review. These experiences have been instrumental in solidifying my decision to pursue a career in Sales within the financial sector.

Moreover, I have been Vice President and Captain of UCL Rugby, and have leadership experience of a large club. My experiences have taught me that at the heart of successful society lies a productive, growth-centred mindset, open to change and open to progression. This is something i hope to drive for this society.

Shreyan Chohan

Hello, my name is Shreyan, and I am running for president of the UCL Investment Society. My journey within the society, from starting as a mentee to becoming a client relationship executive, has helped me understand the inner workings of the society. Through attending numerous events and actively participating in its activities, I have gained a deep understanding of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the team in helping society members deepen their financial knowledge through various initiatives.

If elected as president, my primary focus will be on fostering collaboration, expanding our alumni connections, and enriching the student experience for our society members through:

1) Hosting a wide range of networking opportunities with alumni and new sponsor firms:
