Institute of the Americas Society: Academic Secretary

Hello everybody!

My name is Saniyah, and I am applying for the role of academic secretary. 

I am standing for this role to further the impact of American society in providing support for students regarding internships, work experience, or general events. 

I hope to coordinate events that will benefit students interested in their employability after university. For example, throughout my years in Sixth Form and during my first year, I have fostered connections within the commercial law sector and, therefore, would be able to set up events that will allow students to gain further insight into various industries and roles. 

I also am standing due to the importance of accommodating individuals' lifestyles. I understand that social events at pubs may not be comfortable, and therefore, I want to accommodate more suitable events. I hope to actively engage with society members to understand any inquiries, advice, or worries are heard and answered promptly. 

My motivation for applying for this role comes from a genuine desire to make a positive impact and contribute to the further development of my fellow students. I want to help aid in the organisation of engaging workshops and other events that promote the importance of various work experience schemes. Additionally, I am eager to leverage my organisational and communication skills to ensure the smooth functioning of society and enhance the overall experience for our members.
