Michelle Prajitno

Hi everyone, I am a first-year student studying BSc Economics and Statistics.

Since joining UCL, the Indonesian Soc has provided me a home away from home and allowed me to find close-knit friends I will treasure for life. I am grateful for this and would like to contribute to the society through a role as the Communications Director.

I am particularly interested in this role as it aligns with my previous experiences. Having been the Boarding Council’s Head of Recreation and Enrichment in high school, I am experienced in negotiating and communicating with external parties to invite notable speakers to our events, such as DBS Bank’s Head of Risk Management Group. Among my other experiences, I was also the School Representative for World Vision Indonesia, where I managed key sponsor relationships and took the lead in successfully raising GBP 7,500 as part of the Lombok Earthquake Emergency Response.

I believe that the Communications Director role forms one of the backbones of the society, as it allows for collaborations with other societies to unite like-minded students, negotiations with existing and potential sponsors to obtain maximal sponsorship revenues, as well as liaising with corporate partners or institutions to present high quality events to its members.

I am highly motivated to apply my strong communications, collaboration and organizational skills to this role and I hope to be given the opportunity to serve the society and its members, and drive the society forward.

I would like to contribute in fostering a welcoming community for all Indonesians in UCL. Through effective communication, we can build a strong relationship with the community and widen our reach among Indonesian students in UCL. I believe that I can bring innovative ideas along with a fresh perspective on how we can improve our society. By fostering good communications with other societies in UCL as well as with the Student Union, we can host even more exciting events in the year to come! I am excited to join the team and contribute in creating a welcoming atmosphere for Indonesian students in UCL :D
