Asmi Panda

Hi, I’m Asmi, a first-year medic running for Head of Music! Since being a member of Indian Society, I have met amazing people, learnt about Indian culture, and become part of a tight-knit community. I would love to be able to carry on this experience as part of the committee!

Having attended nearly every Indian Soc event this year, including being a performer in Sangeet 2023, I am eager to contribute to make next year’s events just as memorable. I am a committed Indian classical singer, violinist and tanpura player with a love for performing. As Music Director, I want to spread my passion for music to promote the rich heritage and diversity of Indian music. I have experience organising and coordinating events including alumni reunions in secondary school, and small-scale singing shows for my music school. From this, I have gained valuable skills such as leadership, time management and effective communication. I hope to be able to apply these skills while organising Sangeet 2024 and other musical showcases next year.

I am also excited to make some positive changes. For example, I would love to organise musical masterclasses, allowing people to learn and explore the beauty of Indian classical music. This could range from vocal music styles such as Carnatic, to percussion such as Dhol.

Overall, I would love to be the Head of Music for Indian Society. I believe I have the right skills, experiences, and creative ideas to represent Indian Society proudly in the best possible way!
