Shreya Ramkumar

Hi! I'm Shreya Ramkumar, and I'm excited to run for Dance Director of Indian Dance Society this year.

As UCL's Just Bollywood team captain this year, I had the opportunity to choreograph an 8-minute performance with my co-captains and teach it to a team of 15 dancers. Our performance placed second in the competition. I believe this has given me valuable experience in not just choreography, but also in teaching dance. I have also taught a few dance classes, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

If elected, I will make sure to keep classes dynamic and maintain the community feel of the society. I have experience in multiple styles, I will make sure classes are varied in styles so that people are engaged and interested in learning dance. I will also range my classes from beginner to intermediate to ensure everyone is welcome to learn, because that's what dance is all about!

Thank you for supporting my candidacy for Dance Director!

Shreshta Sanyal

Dance has been an integral part of my life since age four. My journey in the dancing world has been diverse, with a wide array of styles; Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Bollywood, etc. Many years of attending Shiamak Davar classes, and six years of professional Kathak training have honed my passion, skills and understanding of movement and expression.

As Dance Director, I envision leveraging my multifaceted background to choreograph captivating routines, organise enriching workshops, and foster a supportive and inclusive environment.

Choreographing performances for national competitions and cultural events in both the Middle East and India have polished my dance techniques whilst also helping me gain invaluable experience in choreography and event management. Being a senior house leader in sixth form equipped me with essential organisational and communication skills to liaise between different stakeholders and manage various events; enabling me to contribute meaningfully to the smooth functioning of this society and successful execution of future workshops and collaborations!

As an already dedicated member, actively participating in workshops and dance events like Rangeela, I'm particularly drawn to this role since it is an opportunity to combine my passion for dance with my commitment to community engagement and cultural celebration. I'm excited about the prospect of working alongside fellow enthusiasts to promote various dance forms and create memorable experiences for this society!

Nitya Kapadia

Hi everyone! My name is Nitya, I’m a first year student studying History, Politics, and Economics, and I’m running to be one of your Dance Directors!

I’m running to be on committee because I believe dance is such a beautiful way to express yourself, and such a wonderful way to meet amazing people. From when I was young and started learning Kathak, a form of Indian classical dance, to jamming out with my friends at the society’s weekly classes, I’ve always found that taking part in dance has been a really special experience.

I strongly believe I will be a good dance director because I have the experience for it. At school, I started a Bollywood dance club and taught choreography. Similarly, I choreographed for the UCL Diwali celebration and the Christmas Cultural Showcase. These were both incredibly enriching experiences, where I got to develop my choreographing skills and enjoy performing with my friends! I would bring this experience with me to the society as one of your dance directors.

All in all, I believe dance is something really special, and I strongly feel I would be a good addition to the committee as one of your dance directors.

Thank you so much your time, and I hope you vote for me!

Riya Patel

My enthusiasm for the role of Dance Director springs from my consistent participation in weekly dance classes, where I've had the pleasure of exploring a lot of dance styles throughout the year. Having been part of events like the Just Bollywood dance competition and Raas Garba in Rangeela, along with showcasing classical dances at my temple, I've developed a keen passion for choreography across various genres. Recognising the significance of organisation and structure in delivering successful dance sessions, I am dedicated to meticulous preparation to ensure every class is enjoyable and beneficial for all participants. Beyond that, my approachable personality encourages an open and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved.

I look forward to being able to dance with you all.
