London is full of opportunities to make a difference. From projects like Foodcycle and Age UK to initiatives addressing mental health issues, there's a huge range of accessible projects. By actively engaging with these projects we can cultivate empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility among our members. As Volunteering Sec, I can see our club as a hub for transformative action, where every member is encouraged to make a meaningful impact.

Drawing from my experiences as a Charity Ambassador at our school, I have gained experience in organizing communal charity projects needed for the role of Volunteering Secretary. I am enthusiastic about organizing events and maximizing our impact on local communities. I approach every opportunity with a genuine desire to effect positive change.

My vision is to expand our club's reach beyond the confines of the hockey pitch and into the heart of our community. From community gardening projects to food donation drives, from volunteering at local shelters to connecting with the elderly to combat loneliness, the possibilities are endless. I am committed to creating a diverse range of opportunities for our members to get involved, ensuring that everyone can find a cause that resonates with their passions and values.

Through strategic partnerships with local organizations, innovative event planning, and ongoing communication with our members, I aim to foster a culture of service and civic engagement within our Women's Hockey Club.

Considering I study Politics and International Relations and am extremely passionate about human rights preservation and sustainability, becoming Volunteering Sec would be very meaningful to me. I have greatly enjoyed our “COPPAFEEL” and pub quiz socials, as well as supporting my friends in their charity runs (though my personal fitness does not allow me to partake in a 10k run with Liv and Alex just yet, I observe and admire from a distance!).

As Volunteering Sec, I would continue to promote donating to incredible causes by both partnering with the Media Sec and advertising these on the UCLWHC Instagram, and organising valuable socials along with our Social Secs. I would also like to integrate fundraising opportunities more readily in our club’s events, such as holding a raffle at our infamous yearly Ball or Varsity matches, whose proceeds would be donated to a charity previously coordinated with. Further, I would aim to organise more frequent intra-and-inter-club charity matches, coordinating with our Fixtures Secretary in setting a small fee to partake in or watch these, once again to be donated to a charity of our choice.

Through such volunteering and fundraising opportunities, I wish to create an enjoyable way for club members to give back to our community: volunteering opportunities and participating in fundraisers for charities aligning to our club’s values of inclusivity, empowerment, and respect should be considered honourable, prideful, and most importantly, fun!
