Hi, I’m Guneeka and this year, Hindu Society has been an amazing community where I’ve made some of my best friends. As Sanskaar officer, I’d want everyone to celebrate their faith and find a second home in Hindu Society.

Representing young British Hindus at the Parliament and helping within KCsoc as committee has provided valuable leadership experience within a UCL society, preparing me for next year. I have partaken in Varchasva, a Hindu leadership program from the University of Oxford, and have been president of my school’s Hindu society, where I organized the first massive student-led Diwali celebration. I was awarded the Outstanding Individual award in Bexley Borough for my extensive volunteer work such as organising daily prayer sessions for over two years with 40+ families, assisting in religious events with 2000+ attendees, etc. These experiences will equip me to cultivate the essential Sanskaar side of UCL Hindu Society whilst fostering an inclusive and fun religious space.

To increase awareness of our Dharmic traditions, I would love to incorporate weekly aartis and engaging discussions, alongside events such as Bhajan nights and temple visits. Expanding sewa initiatives, such as our GoDharmic initiative and emphasising religious significance in our celebrations are also key focuses for next year. By working with our social secretary for collaborations with other societies and universities, I can strengthen our faith community in a fun way as your sanskaar officer!
