Surendra Rana

Hello, I’m Surendra, a second-year MSci Geology student, and I hope to enact these policies if elected next year:

  • Guest lectures from within and outside of our department
  • Geology-themed/general knowledge quiz nights, movie nights with a post-film discussion!
  • Field trips around the country and locally (potentially featuring some very cool emeritus Professors with lots of stories along the way!).
  • Trips to the Natural History Museum in London and Earth museums across the country (Oxford, Cambridge, etc.)
  • Group study challenges/sessions whilst also planting trees (Greenough Flora app group!)

As a role that has recently been reinstated, it would be a crowning moment for our society's revival if some of these ideas came to fruition.

Having been on the committee in the 2023/24 year, I oversaw projects (such as our collaboration with UCL Hiking Club, going to Tunbridge Wells for its Cretaceous sandstones) and collaborated with staff and fellow committee to host the first Greenough Movie Night and Games Nights. It would be a pleasure to continue my involvement with the committee for next year.

Greenough is just beginning to get started!
