Burton Cheung

As the lead player for the UCL golf team, I have gained much experience in competitive matches against other UK universities. This experience has allowed me to understand a few of our opponents and I now can effectively strategise for the team. As a golfer who has strategised in preparation for both amateur and professional tournaments for the past decade, as well as led my high school team as captain to finish third in a nationwide inter-school tournament, I strongly believe my experience will contribute to improving the reputation of not only the golf team but more importantly the society as a whole. Our team is currently standing strong at third place in the league thanks to the amazing work of our current captain, Henrik Sarvikivi. I have gained his endorsement to run for captain in the future and I am confident that I can lead our dedicated and skilled team players to improve our league rankings.

Dedicated to helping golfers improve, I would love to see more of current society members play for team events! The phrase "I want to reach 10 handicap by this year", I have heard a handful of times during our range sessions. With my experience as a coach back in Hong Kong, I hope to work with our many enthusiastic and dedicated members, increasing TEAMUCL players.

With me as your captain, I not only will work towards improving the team, but I will pursue my genuine interest to encourage more golfers to lower their scores and provide more entertaining socials for the society!
