Hi! I have been working with Giving Voice for the last year as a communications officer. This year, I am running for President, and I am hoping to shape the society over the next year to focus on professional development, community engagement, and fundraising.

I am hoping to expand on events like the stammering talk we had this year, to continue our professional development alongside giving a platform for a variety of service users/their families have an opportunity to raise awareness for different populations we could work with. In particular I would like to focus on more specific conditions or settings that we do not have time to focus on or cover within our course, this will increase our awareness of services, and potentially develop our interest for working in different populations. I would like to take on board ideas from members of the society to ensure events are focused on what you want to see.

Following on from this, I would like to organise a range of fundraising opportunities throughout the year, informed by the members of our society. Part of this will involve organising events which celebrate our achievements as a cohort, for example a Christmas and end of year formal dinner which raises money for a chosen charity.

I would love to work with other members of the committee to develop our events and involve members in the running of our society. I believe after my year on committee I have the skills to bring about this change, alongside the rest of committee.
