Amala Sangha

Hi! My name is Amala and I'm running to be President of the 2024 GenFem Committee 😊

My love of being part of the society, thanks to its emphasis on inclusivity and bold discussion, led me to join the committee as Treasurer last year.

Being on the current committee, I have had experience leading multiple sessions on my own, as well as shown my commitment to the society through regular attendance to meetings and contributing to the facilitation of our fundraising events. Moreover, I am confident that I have the organisational and leadership skills needed to be President of the society due to my time as Head of Equality of my secondary school where I organised school-wide celebrations of BHM, IWD and Pride Month. These events refined the time-management and communication skills that would be needed for this role. Most importantly, GenFem has helped me foster wonderful friendships and connect with vibrant and curious people. In this vein, I can promise to be a friendly face for all members, who can trust their views and opinions will always be respected and their suggestions always taken on-board.

My goal is to continue outreach-expansion so more people can benefit from GenFem. I’m also passionate about exploring how the society can cement its role in bringing change to our campus and beyond through activism, fundraising and protest. I think our society has so much potential to actualise the brilliant ideas we come up with in our discussions and have a lasting impact on UCL <3
