I am standing for the position of Co-editor in Chief of Era Journal because I am passionate for and excited by the space it provides for creative expression and intellectual stimulation. In my role as this year's Music Editor, I have transitioned from invested reader and writer to assuming the responsibilities of an editor, becoming well-versed in the journal's distinctive editorial style and process. At its most basic level, I have been allowed to appreciate the art of this genre of writing, finding great satisfaction in refining linguistic nuances in submitted works. What has been most exciting for me personally, though, is the broader conceptual leadership of the section, finding great stimulation in the challenge of crafting prompts for writers and remaining closely connected with London’s cultural scene as the publication’s vital source of liveliness. It is this which I wish to continue next year as Co-editor in Chief, alongside remaining close to writers and editors to build on the wonderful community that the journal has fostered at UCL.
