After joining era and seeing the ins and outs of how a publication comes together it inspired me to further delve into my passion for writing and run for the co-editor position. I would love to be a part of the behinds the scenes in curating both the community that makes era, but also it would be an honour to play a role in shaping the wonderful works that are showcased. I am well organised and determined, especially with things I love and I think I'd bring creative innovation, both upholding what era is and elevating it further. My meticulous approach would allow me to be a successful editor, refining work and pulling together all the inspired pieces.

Gabriela Bernabeu Rodrigo

I am standing for the position of Co-editor in Chief of Era Journal because I am passionate for and excited by the space it provides for creative expression and intellectual stimulation. In my role as this year's Music Editor, I have transitioned from invested reader and writer to assuming the responsibilities of an editor, becoming well-versed in the journal's distinctive editorial style and process. At its most basic level, I have been allowed to appreciate the art of this genre of writing, finding great satisfaction in refining linguistic nuances in submitted works. What has been most exciting for me personally, though, is the broader conceptual leadership of the section, finding great stimulation in the challenge of crafting prompts for writers and remaining closely connected with London’s cultural scene as the publication’s vital source of liveliness. It is this which I wish to continue next year as Co-editor in Chief, alongside remaining close to writers and editors to build on the wonderful community that the journal has fostered at UCL.

Olivia Wachowiak

Whoever saw me in action as Era’s Literature Editor this year will hopefully attest to how passionate I am about the journal. I also possess a good understanding of the magazine as a distinct art form, which, alongside my creativity balanced with diligence and an eye for detail—especially for the written word—makes me well-suited for the role. I constantly have my finger on the pulse of London’s prolific art scene, which is Era’s main focus. Therefore, I am motivated to maintain and inspire a proactive attitude in seeking opportunities for contributors, building on the positive relations with numerous cultural institutions, organisations, and publishers that I’ve established this year. I believe that a magazine’s ephemerality is offset by its stylistic consistency. Having worked closely with previous editors-in-chief, I have come to a good understanding of Era’s textual and visual style, which I aim to preserve as well as continue improving. Finally, I am aware that to Era members, it is not only a magazine, but also a platform for collaborating with like-minded individuals with a serious interest in and taste for the arts; there is no other such space at UCL. I’m therefore motivated to put my organisational skills to a good use to create opportunities for new connections to be made and for existing ones to continue to flourish. Long story short: I’m standing because I really care about Era. “Some people have the Bible, I have [Era]”…vote for me if you feel the same way x
