Environmental Law and Life Science Society: Events Officer

Hi! My name is Sharanya, a first year law student, excited about extending and improving ELL’s events next academic year.

Why am I the right person for this role? 

I have considerable experience organising large-scale events specifically for environmental activism. 

I founded and organised a Model United Conference to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund, Switzerland’s only MUN conference for charity. 

Through this conference I:

• Managed a team of 10 members on the executive committee
• Hosted over 500 students
• Liaised with the UN Deputy Secretary General as a guest speaker
• Raised 2’500 Swiss Francs for WWF
• Did this all within COVID restrictions 

Not only do I have experience organising events - I know what makes a good event. 

Here are my ideas for events for next year:

• More informal discussion forums e.g. movie nights, game nights, informal Q&A sessions
• Polls to our members to discuss panellists they wish to see
• Collaboration with other societies - Law Society, ESG Society, Energy Society, Legal Tech Society

I am capable and determined to make next year’s events the best possible.
