I am running for President of the Entrepreneurs Society at UCL, building on my personal experience as an entrepreneur and my passion for nurturing entrepreneurial spirit among like-minded individuals. During my high school years, I founded Altimate Nutrition, which became Singapore's first start-up to transform insect protein into consumable food products for humans. This led to my recognition as Singapore's Youth Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021, and my start-up gained substantial media attention, including features in numerous newspapers and television programs across Singapore. I have also successfully secured venture capital funding and government grants in Singapore.
As President of the Entrepreneurs Society, my primary goal will be to democratize entrepreneurship, making it accessible to everyone. I have seen lots of students excited/interested in starting their businesses, but there's often a bit of hesitation, mostly because they are not quite sure where to begin. To bridge this gap, I plan to implement a series of Entrepreneurship workshops covering a range of topics from the business model canvas to fundraising strategies. Furthermore, I aim to increase the frequency of hackathons to enhance students' ideation and problem-solving capabilities in a practical setting. Lastly, I intend to invite a diverse array of young startup founders to share their entrepreneurial journeys and insights with our members, thereby enriching our society's learning environment.
Hello! My name is Veronika, I am a 2nd year Electronic and Electrical Engineering student, and an early-stage startup founder.
This year, I have been in the role of the UCLe Bloomsbury Ventures executive, working in organising events in collaboration with VCs from across the range of funding levels and sectors. This experience has allowed me to build connections and learn more about the VC field. Along being part of the UCLe committee, I also participated in UCL Build Your Own Business Programme at BaseKX and BSA, and I was lucky to learn even more about entrepreneurship.
As an early-stage founder, I believe I can empathise with the problems and struggles my fellow student-founders have to deal with. Being a founder is not easy. Being a student founder is even harder! I believe in the community we are building in the UCLe we are able to help and support each other on our entrepreneurial journeys.
My main objectives as president are:
- Increase the amount of socials and networking events for the members to collaborate with like-minded people within the society, such as co-founder Speed dating.
- Collaborate with UCL Business Innovation and Enterprise for relevant and expert-quality events and opportunities.
- Provide training in more technical aspects of both Entrepreneurship and VC, including finances and legal aspects.
I hope to continue the tradition of excellent leadership of the UCLe and ensure that all of our members feel welcome and supported on all of our events.
