Jocelyn Mo Yung

As a BA Comparative Literature student, I have always wanted to immerse myself into UCL's bookish community more. After joining the various writing workshops offered by English Society, I was beyond impressed by the committee's ability to provide such an uplifting and constructive atmosphere for students to explore their literary talents, regardless of their academic level or background. I found that I too wanted to be involved in spreading the joy of writing and reading literature as well, and recently becoming an ambassador for the society has consolidated this sentiment. This motivated me to stand for the role of treasurer in the committee, so that I can be involved in organising society events and administering events' logistics, at the same time allowing me to develop my transferrable skillsets such as leadership and collaboration skills.

I participated in various leadership roles in my previous school as well, such as being the captain of the Beach Volleyball Team, secretary of the Symphonic Band Executive Committee and reporter of the school's Editorial Board. I think that all of these experiences has honed my leadership skills and my ability to tend to various work responsibilities, which I think are all skills suited for the role of a treasurer. If I am elected as the treasurer of the society, I will surely do my best to organise literary events and workshops that can bring together all literature-lovers as well as introduce the love of literature to more people!
