Hello everyone, My name is Bruno Hawkins. I'll keep this brief:
Experience matters. As Head of the Wellbeing Committee in high school and President of the Surgery and Interventional Science Society this year, I've honed skills in fostering support and leading effectively.
If elected, I'll:
- Ensure open communication channels between members, the committee, faculty of engineering and student union
- Enhance support systems by communicating more with our members through a dedicated wellbeing form
- Organize 'fun' engineering and non-engineering stress-relief activities (since these courses are so tough on us)
Thanks and I hope you vote for me.
Hey everyone!
My name is Ronaldo, and I am running for Welfare Officer next year because I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every member feels valued. Throughout my academic journey in engineering, I have witnessed and experienced firsthand the challenges that students in our field face, from rigorous coursework to demanding projects. As someone who has faced mental health issues, I am passionate about supporting others and their well-being when they encounter challenges. Hence, I believe that this role would enable me to make a meaningful contribution to our community.
My experiences as an engineering tutor and mentor have equipped me with empathy, communication skills, and the ability to actively listen to the concerns of others. Furthermore, as a part-time teacher, I always aim to ensure my students feel heard and that I do whatever I can to support their education and well-being, qualities that I can bring to this role.
Moreover, as someone who is also part of the queer community, I want to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion by ensuring that the voices of all members are heard and understood. As the Welfare Officer, the prospect of organising events to create spaces for open dialogue and support excites me. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with others, organise engaging events, and be a supportive presence for all our members and the future committee.
Hii! I am a second-year student from Electronics and Electrical Engineering. I am driven by a genuine passion for engineering and keen to make sure everyone in the society feels inclusive and welcome. Having previously served as a student representative in the student union, I honed valuable coordination skills and gained experience that I am eager to leverage for the betterment of our community.
I am willing to coordinate social events, propose novel projects, committing to enhancing the experiences for everyone in the society, that is, YOU! I will be dedicated to instigating positive changes that will make our society more dynamic and inclusive than ever before. Looking forward to bringing about positive transformations and contributing to the success of our lovely society!
Hey everyone, my name is Diren, and I am running to be your Welfare Officer for the upcoming academic year!
Being a part of UCL’s Engineering Society has been an integral part of my university life and I am incredibly grateful for the people I have met and the lessons learned along the way! I hope to give back to UCLES by announcing my candidacy to be your Welfare Officer for the upcoming academic year :)
My goals for the year are as follows:
1) Host regular socials and inter-society events alongside the Head of Events to strengthen interdepartmental connections
2) Reach out to members of the society in the form of text messages on the group chat, UCLES newsletters and in-person conversations during our socials to ensure that everyone’s keeping well – all Engineering courses are quite tough after all :,)
3) Ensure that I look out for the welfare of my committee and to ensure that all my fellow committee members do not feel overburdened by committee work and make sure they maintain a healthy work-life balance
It’s been an absolute pleasure to work at UCLES and I’d love to have the opportunity to end my university journey here as well. If you feel that I’m the right person for the job, I’d appreciate your vote :)!
