Julia Lai

Hi! I’m Julia, a 2nd year Education Studies student and currently one of the Directors of the EIE.

Over the past year, I have worked on multiple projects with my fellow committee members, growing the impact of our society and delivering exciting events to our attendees. I have a strong passion for Education Innovation and Edtech and I’m excited to build up and expand on some of these successful events next year, as well as offering new perspectives to accommodate our attendee’s wishes.

As a Treasurer, I look forward to working with my team and making informed financial decisions in order to allocate sufficient resources and budget for organising more high quality events. I also hope to form more partnerships with other internal and external organisations so that members have the chance to make their own meaningful connections.

Thank you for your consideration!

Yuqiao Deng

My candidacy for the role of treasurer is deeply rooted in the successful track record in financial management, particularly demonstrated during my time as treasurer for the Alternative Music Society (AMS) throughout my sixth form years. This experience has equipped me with critical skills essential for the treasurer position for the EIE society. In managing the AMS's finances, I learned the intricacies of budgeting, expense control, and optimizing profits, which are pivotal for the financial health and sustainability of any organization.

I played a key role in the planning and execution of music events and festivals four times each academic term, aimed at fostering a lively social environment while ensuring financial viability. My duties involved careful selection and purchase of refreshments, strategic ticket pricing to avoid losses, and most importantly, ensuring that 20% of our profits were reserved for emergency situations. This foresight was crucial for addressing unexpected expenses, such as the need for replacing or repairing broken lighting equipment, ensuring the society's activities could continue uninterrupted. My ability to manage these responsibilities effectively showcases my readiness for the treasurer role potentially at the EIE society, where I am excited to work along with other committee members.
