"Welfare Officer" is just a name if I didn't get the position :I

Previously, I was the Head of Marketing for CSS, where I was responsible for all those Instagram posts and stories. Also, I'm still in contact with the marketing and sponsoring part of the CS department.

It's a well-known fact that some apply for these roles because they are perceived as requiring little effort. The reason I applied is that I just want to help out my friends because they want me on the committee (I do a lot of work believe it or not) and to prevent some other people who don't do any work from getting this role (but if you do your work and the new committees are happy with you, I'm happy to vote for you :D).

Also, if you vote for me, trust me, I will notify you guys if that event has free food or not :P

IMPORTANT: I will even advocate for a change from ICCO pizza to Domino's!!!

Dear CSS Members,

As students sharing the same academic journey across different years, I believe fostering a meeting ground is essential for enhancing our university experience. CSS has been instrumental in guiding students through their academic and professional journeys. I have personally experienced the benefits of being part of this community, and I am eager to contribute back by serving on the committee next year.

I consider myself well-suited for the role of Welfare Officer because of my natural communication skills, ability to empathise with others, and my genuine enjoyment of supporting others. My experience as the Vice president of the Interact Club at my school has equipped me with a diverse skill set that I am confident will be valuable to the CSS community. Growing up in Malaysia, a country rich in diverse races and cultures adds a unique dimension to my perspective and has instilled in me a deep understanding of the importance of inclusivity.

In this role, I will be an open and approachable point of contact for any member facing challenges. I am eager to continue the positive impact of CSS, and I hope you consider voting for me and entrusting me with this role!

Thank you and I hope you have a great day!

Diren Gunasekera

Hey everyone, my name is Diren, and I am running to be your Welfare Officer for the upcoming academic year!

Being a part of UCL’s Computer Science Society has been an integral part of my university life and I am incredibly grateful for the people I have met and the lessons learned along the way! I hope to give back to CSS by announcing my candidacy to be your Welfare Officer for the upcoming academic year :)

My goals for the year are as follows:

  1. Host regular socials and inter-society events alongside the Head of Events to strengthen interdepartmental connections
  2. Reach out to members of the society in the form of text messages on the group chat, newsletters and in-person conversations during our socials to ensure that everyone’s keeping well – Computer Science can get quite tough after all :,)
  3. Ensure that I look out for the welfare of my committee and to ensure that all my fellow committee members do not feel overburdened by committee work and make sure they maintain a healthy work-life balance

It’s been an absolute pleasure to be a part of the Computer Science Society and I’d love to have the opportunity to end my university journey here as well. If you feel that I’m the right person for the job, I’d appreciate your vote :)!

Aaditya Kumar

Having been a main dancer in Just Bollywood and participant in Rangeela during my time in UCL, I've learned how to have fun and connect with diverse groups of people. These experiences taught me the value of inclusivity and creating enjoyable environments. As welfare officer, I aim to bring this energy to social events, organising activities that destress and unite our members. With access to the Welfare Fund, I'll ensure to think of fresh and unique ideas for socials and responsibly carry them out for the benefit of the society. My passion for socialising will ensure our society remains vibrant and supportive. Furthermore, I'm committed to completing all necessary training to effectively fulfill my duties.
