I am excited about the prospect of contributing my skills and experiences to the role of Head of Sponsorship for the CSS. My diverse background has provided me with the necessary foundation to excel in this crucial position, where securing sponsors and maintaining strong relationships are paramount.

During my summer breaks, I interned at a marketing agency where I had the opportunity to work closely with clients and negotiate partnerships. This experience equipped me with valuable skills in communication, negotiation, and contract management, which are essential for liaising with businesses and drawing up contractual agreements as a sponsorship officer.

In addition to my internship experience, I was also heavily involved in organising fundraising events for a local charity during high school. This experience taught me the importance of building and maintaining relationships with sponsors and charities to ensure that all contractual agreements are upheld throughout the year. I understand the significance of honouring commitments and will work diligently to ensure that our sponsors receive the recognition and support they deserve.

Furthermore, my involvement in extracurricular activities such as debate club and student council has honed my communication and leadership skills, which will be invaluable in liaising with sponsors and representing the CSS effectively.

Attending UCL to pursue a degree in Computer Science has always been a long-time dream of mine. However, as an international student of lower socio-economic status, pursuing my studies abroad remained just that—an elusive, impossible dream. Even after months of hard work studying for my A-Levels, attaining leadership positions in societies, and receiving my long-awaited acceptance letter, going to UCL was simply not feasible.

It would have been easier for me to resent my family for being poor. It would have been easier for me to envy my friends who were living the life I wished I could have had. Instead, I poured my heart and soul into scholarship applications, attempting to convince companies why their investment and sponsorship toward me and my degree was worth the risk. My standing here now as a proud student of UCL is a testimony to the diligence and perseverance required to lead the sponsorship department of the Computer Science Society.

As a scholarship student, my belief that funding can aid in the accomplishment of goals and bring about positive change has never been stronger. Being a first-year representative and member of the CSS, I am a witness to how integral our society is in promoting the growth of all students, whether in Computer Science or not, through our hackathons, seminars, and career talks. It would be a privilege to help realise the CSS's dreams through obtaining sponsors, just as mine were. If elected, I will do my best to achieve this.

Yours,
Grace

As the former president of the Computer Science Society, I am excited to campaign for the head of sponsorship position. With my experience leading the society, I understand the intricacies of our organization and the importance of securing strong sponsorships.
