Cancer Charities Alliance Society: Treasurer

Hello everyone - my name is Madina and I’m a first BSc Cancer Biomedicine Student1

Increasing funding for cancer research and providing greater accessibility to potentially life-saving treatment for cancer patients is one of my great passions and is one of the few things that keep me up at night.

I hope to hold monthly fundraising events and write grant proposals to non-profit organizations to generate as much additional funding for the Alliance as possible. I would love to organize volunteering opportunities like patient befriending for students passionate about making a meaningful difference for cancer patients. I also hope to use my ties to the UCL Cancer Institute to help organize academic talks and workshops by researchers and oncologists on exciting developments in cancer research. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as the Project Leader for the UCL Cancer Care volunteering writing project and would love to continue to contribute to the society’s goal to raise awareness about cancer research.

I hope to draw on the organizational, communication, and leadership skills I have developed as the founder of the Science Research and Discussion Society in my sixth form, the first-year representative of the UCL Science Magazine, and a science tutor of more than 2 years to successfully execute this role. I would cherish this opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a cause that is very close to my heart and would find this role incredibly rewarding!
