Hey, I’m Beatrice, I’m in my second year, and I’m excited to be running to be your secretary!

I’ve spent the last year as RUMS Sports Officer, which means that I am well-equipped to manage deadlines, tasks and communicating with a variety of different people. I also understand the hard work that goes into a committee, and a society, behind the scenes. I've also been involved with Boat Club, helping to organise and run events such as This Girl Can circuits, and helping run the Senior Women's Instagram!

Rowing and coxing has given me massive appreciation for what this club can do, and the incredible people in it, so I would love to be a part of helping us to develop and grow!

As well as the usual monthly calendars, I would love to make another similar, but financially-oriented one, as there can be massive financial pressures throughout the year, so that members know what to expect money-wise! I would also like to increase the level of transparency with committee, by publishing a short summary of what's being worked on at the moment!

Also, not to brag, but I do have canva pro, so the calendars will be *stunning*, can type quite quickly (excellent for taking minutes), and have a GCSE in computer science so I can ~maybe~ work Facebook.

Lots of love! Bea x

(side note: my wellies are flooded in the picture and this is the level of commitment I will bring to the role)

Oscar Edmondson

With over half of my first year gone, it's fair to say that boat club has definitely made a large impact on my time at university so far, both in terms of the races and training but also the socials and other events which have all been so enjoyable. Therefore, I want to help out as much as I can by giving back to boat club and making sure it can run as smoothly as possible.

I feel that I'd be a perfect fit for the role because:

1. I am organised - I have devoted a lot of time to boat club alongside uni and have been to every social so far; I have also been able to balance being in both the senior and novice social groups, both of which I have thoroughly enjoyed!

2. I am good at working in a team - Having rowed for the last 5 years has taught me that teamwork is absolutely vital for the success of any team, therefore I feel that my skills would be a valuable asset to working with others on boat club committee

3. I have good communication skills - Communication has also been invaluable for ensuring that training sessions and socials have been able to run (in particular, the water sessions)

4. I have experience - It's my job! I work as a secretary for a company, which has involved doing invoices, minute taking and other admin tasks

Moreover, I want to help in boat club to make it as fun and inclusive as it can possibly can be and secretary would be an amazing place to start. Thank you to everyone for such an incredible year; I can't wait to help make it just as good next year!
