I joined UCL BC in October and the friends made and experiences enjoyed in the intervening months have been invaluable. Relationships that last a lifetime are a rare gift and maintaining these connections is difficult - the world moves on and the bonds which once connect you can start to fray. I see alumni relations as pivotal to my future engagement with the club and would relish the opportunity to contact rowers of generations past and learn what we can provide for them now.

Another issue particularly pertinent to any rowing club is funding: equipment is incredibly expensive. There needs to be a focus on re-engaging old UCL rowers back into our community. Of course, we cannot merely expect donations without some element of reciprocity - humans are innately generous but we must give them an opportunity to show this. Fundraising events and charitable raffles would be a perfect opportunity to rekindle old ties and hopefully make some financial gains!

I hope to give back to a club that has provided me with so much in my first two terms of university. Cheers!

Hi guys! I'm running for Alumni and Fundraising Officer this year. Here's why you should consider voting for me.

Vision:

- This is a notoriously underutilised committee position, despite its huge scope for positive change at the club. I'd like to set a precedent for this role to become an engaged member of committee, serving as a key player in bolstering the finances of our club.

- I will bring a much greater emphasis to Alumni relations. This area is vastly neglected at our club, with a hugely limited access pool of alumni. I will work to reach out to our network that have recently left UCLBC, building a sustainable alumni legacy of all ages for years to come.. My hope is this will provide a new source of sustainable and long term income to the club.

- Make fundraising a fully integrated part of UCLBC, with squad targets and increased social media emphasis.

What Qualifies Me?

- 2 years at UCLBC, with 1 year as Novice Men's Captain

- This years Sports Representative for Students' Union UCL, giving me a broad insight into financial and policy decisions at the executive level of our Union.

- Ran previous fundraising events, generating £6,000 for the 'Maggie's Trust' in 2022.

- 1 years experience on committee

Cameron Eales

Given the proficiency of the NM at costing the club money, I think it’s time for us to give back to this great club. I’d be able to make a difference to the club by gaining sponsors and running fundraising events for each squad throughout the year. I have experience reaching out to sponsors from doing it for EFS and want to contribute to the club.
