Sarah Taleb

As a member of the biomedical sciences society, I am eager to nominate myself for the position of Social Secretary. I believe that my creativity, my organizational skills and enthusiasm make me an ideal candidate for this role. As a first-year Biomedical Sciences student, the impact of well-organized society events, ranging from academic talks to social gatherings, has truly left a mark on me and inspired me to take responsibility in organizing these events for the Biomedical Sciences Society. My experience in organizing various events, from children's birthday parties and trips abroad to study gatherings, has significantly improved my organizational and communication skills. My vision as Social Secretary is to create a diverse and inclusive calendar of events that brings our members together for enjoyment and also enriches our academic experience as well as our networking opportunities. I aim to make anyone who is interested in biomedical sciences feel included and a sense of belonging, I am ready to listen to all members' ideas and act on feedback. I am looking forward to working with the committee to elevate our society's presence and impact here at UCL, and I am willing to dedicate as many hours as this takes. I would love to plan a large variety of events, not only including academic talks and networking events but also sports events, baking, balls and parties, because who says biomedical sciences isn’t fun?

Ambra Crolla

Hi, I’m Ambra, a 1st year Biomedical Sciences student who appreciates the importance of balancing work and a social life. As Social Secretary, I will organise fun social events and fundraisers for our members.

As head of events at school, I gained experience in this area, organising our Christmas ball and after party (300+ people) and summer ball (600+ people). These helped me gain useful skills: seating and menu planning, budgeting, sourcing entertainment, venue hire, and coordinating transport. I am excited to apply this to organising similar parties or events for the Society. Also, with hockey society, I have experience with the student union, which will make me a valuable addition to the committee.

The newly founded Biomed Society is an exciting chance to unite people from all years and streams of our course, which I feel hasn't yet been achieved. So I intend to set up a parenting scheme in which 1st years will have older students 'parent' them in a more informal and relaxed setting than the current mentor scheme, including family socials, dinners, etc.

A good society needs a range of activities, so I would also offer intimate/academic events, including pub quizzes, study groups, networking, fundraising, guest speakers, etc. Potentially integrating some with other societies.

As social secretary, I will create a welcoming environment for all members, from nights out to a cosy movie. My goal is to give everyone and memorable experience in the Biomedical Sciences Society.

Aiman Chamdawala

I am a second year Biomedical sciences student and I really enjoy what I’m studying. I would love to make an impact on the society and see it grow, especially since this course has been an integral part of my time here at UCL. Planning socials is an important aspect of any society and I would like to organise socials for fellow Biomedical sciences students to interact and form connections. If elected, I will make sure to plan fun, interactive socials (quiz nights, bowling, movie nights and more!) as well as educational socials for everyone to hangout and get to know their peers. I will also collaborate with other societies for bigger events so everyone has a greater opportunity to mingle and meet new people from UCL. I have the responsibility and organisational skills required to diligently carry out this role. I look forward to working with everyone to make this society a bigger success :)

Tracy Cui
