Being a welfare officer for the bioethics and medical law society is more than just a role, its a chance to lead big changes and make sure everyone in the community feels safe, respected, and supported. As the person in this important position, I would be at the forefront of making society welcoming and caring. My dedication would not only meet immediate needs, but it would also help build a society where everyone, no matter what their situation or background, can find comfort and support and feel safe in this society. Taking on this role for me means I want to be the one to bring about good change and speak up for those who need it the most. I have a strong sense of understanding and a strong desire to break down the stigma surrounding mental health problems. This isn't just a role, it's a chance for me to put my own story of strength into the fabric of the community, making it more open and making sure no one feels alone in their battle. I want to be a part of the committee in this society where I can contribute to a good cause and make sure everyone feels welcome, supported, and heard.

Alexandra (Alex) Tran

As a neuroscience student, I am interested in the intersections of healthcare and ethics, especially with the rise of AI in our healthcare system. After being inspired by the bioethics society’s talks and being able to meet with like-minded people, I wanted to do the same for others moving forward, encouraging an exchange of ideas and beliefs. I believe that lots of ethical and legal issues can arise from innovation, and development of technology. I want events to be an open discussion about these advancements, while also be a great starting step where people can learn even if they know nothing about bioethics and medical law. I will make it my goal to make events a safe (and very fun!!) space for students to be curious, ask questions, and to be a hub for like-minded people.

I have effective communication skills and have worked with lots of D&I initiatives, so ensuring the society is a welcoming place for everyone is my number one priority. There will be an abundance of differing opinions, and it is important to ensure that the society is a place where all beliefs and opinions will be treated with respect.

Vote for me to make bioethics an inclusive and safe place for all!
