Omar Gamil Dawoud

Hello everyone, I am applying for this position as im really passionate for the sport and have been going to almost every social basketball event for the past year. I know how it operates and most people there, so it’ll be nice to have friendly faces. Social basketball games really help me as a person (physically and my mental health) and i think it helps everyone who attends, so i would love to have a part in operating it next year.

Thank you :)

Jay Singh

Having been a member of the social basketball team since the start of this year, and having played in all but one of their intra-uni scrimmages, I have a strong rapport with members on the society. I am diligent when it comes to management and have aided newcomers with their questions when Sheng is unavailable. I have guided more than one new member through the steps to purchase a membership, join the WhatsApp, make note of scrimmage dates, and finally show up at the right place at the right time. Having done this on the rare occasions that Sheng is unavailable, he is aware of my efforts and can be asked for a reference. If I do win this position, then I will try and organise more intra-uni scrimmages in the future, as I know these are popular amongst members. Further, I am aware of a great number of basketball competitions in London that are not bound to a university (free-for-all), and would think of taking 10-15 players to this competitions as a set of three "UCL" teams. Finally, I would incorporate visiting London Lions games as a social event, which would ideally be open to all society members and not just the social squad. I have done research and tickets are £5 standalone, or £3 when you book as a group. I am looking forward to running for this position, and if anyone has further questions please message me on the number provided.

Thank you,

Jay
