Hi everyone! I've enjoyed my time as a member of UCL ASN Society this past year, from attending the socials and collaborative events with other societies; as someone who values diversity and inclusion, I know that ASN as a society equally places an importance on these qualities, and so I would love to continue promoting this and be a part of the society as Treasurer!

My experience working on the Financial Team for various charities has equipped me with the organisational and communication skills needed to be a successful Treasurer. I am able to handle payment forms and documentation, tabulate costs using tools such as Google Sheet/Excel, and keep track of memberships. With these experiences, as Treasurer, I aspire to:

- Work hard with the rest of the committee to gain sponsorship and discounts to cafes and bubble tea shops.

- Organise creative charity fundraising events, and opportunities to volunteer abroad to give back to our communities.

- Create ASN Merch, including tote-bags, keyrings, and even hoodies!

- Collaborate with other societies and organise events to meet new people.

Most importantly, as Treasurer, I hope to work with the other committee members, to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable, and is having fun at our socials! I hope to continue the success of the previous committee by giving back and building an enjoyable space for everyone to embrace and share their culture.

Thank you for reading :)

Hi, I’m Connie and I would like to run for Treasurer for the Asian Social Network Society! The main reason why I want to run for leadership is because I’ve really enjoyed attending the Society events this year. Coming from a Malaysian-Chinese background but having been raised in the UK, issues concerning identity have sometimes posed a challenge to me. However, having since attended the ASN Society events, I felt so much more comfortable embracing all aspects of my cultural identity, especially having connected with  people from all different backgrounds. I particularly want to run for Treasurer/Vice President, as it aligns with my past leadership experiences. As one of the heads of my sixth-form leadership team, I worked with a large team of 18 to organise and execute over a week of school festivities for over 600 people in our school. I was primarily in charge of the financial matters and money-raising aspects of the task, giving students the option of buying a wristband for the entire week or paying at the door. We ended up raising around £2000. This demonstrates my teamwork, organisation and project management skills. If I am elected to be the VP/Treasurer, I will continually ensure all Asian communities at UCL feel represented and respected, again through collaboration with other cultural societies. I also have a ton of ideas for new events, ranging from cultural showcases, like a fashion show to show off traditional cultural clothing, to food stalls to dance events.
