I would like to join the ARTSMH and nominate myself for the event officer role, which resonates deeply with my journey and aspirations. I am a Psychology with Education Year 2 student. My passion for psychology was paralleled early on by my love for arts and handicrafts. Crafting and gifting my work about arts has always brought mutual joy, exploring and highlighting the conjunction of psychology and arts, a core value of the ARTS Mental Health Society. This aligns with the core value of ARTSMH.
Conversations around shared interests like psychology and art energise me. I have work experience in psychiatry and have volunteered for group counselling through the art therapy method several times. I also have volunteer experience with autistic children regarding their reading and playing. All these past experiences have built my organisation and communication skills. I have also been my high school class’s event organiser for three years, and I have web-editing experiences about psychology and astrology, aligning with the skills needed for this position.
I am also a responsible and self-motivated person. I am eager to contribute and bring benefits to ARTSMH, and I wish ARTSHM could be better. Meanwhile, serving as an event officer would be a mutually beneficial choice, and I could also improve myself. I wish to orchestrate events celebrating arts and mental health, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
Hey there I'm Tiffany, a year 2 Psychology with Education student here! I can't even begin to tell you all when exactly I recognised my love towards mental health and arts. Growing up in a dance and theatre community really reconfirmed my passion for performing arts over and over again. There has always been something captivating about it, the way it allows me to tell my story, use my voice, my body, and that peace of mind it brings never ceases to amaze me to this day.
The idea that every piece of work/project should be an internal, delicate craft is an important moral principle to me, both in performing arts and in my work. So I do believe my full commitment to a project can be guaranteed once I set my mind to it. Being the welfare officer in Psychology and Education Society, as well as the sole British Psychological Society x UCL Ambassador this past year really trained my ability to execute and organise social, academic and career events. They equipped me with the proper skillset and mindset to network with professionals from different fields, understand logistics behind activities and work effectively no matter in an independent or group setting.
I do believe through my proactive engagement in developing ideas for Arts for Mental Health Society events, I would not only bring our team members' intriguing ideas to life, but also be able to create a safe and supportive community for all members to explore their own voices and stories here. <3 Thank you!
