My decision to run for treasurer is driven by my passion for financial management and desire to contribute meaningfully to our society. Effective financial management is essential for the success and sustainability of any organisation, and I am eager to apply my advanced skills and experience to this role.
I am deeply committed to supporting our community and ensuring its financial stability and growth. As a student well engaged from the BASC common room to the BASC Ball, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that we face as a diverse and dynamic group of individuals.
My strong analytical skills speak for themselves and are well-suited to the responsibilities of a treasurer. I am detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of managing budgets, tracking expenses, and making informed financial decisions.
My work will ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in our society's finances. I will prioritise open communication with members, seeking input and feedback to ensure that our financial resources are used in ways that best serve the needs and interests of our community. Your voice will matter to me.
Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you as treasurer and to work together to build a stronger, even more vibrant BASC Society.
Hiya! I’m Shania, m in the Cultures pathway. I love travelling, movies/TV Shows and music as a way to pass time. More importantly, I am always open to meeting new people and engaging in communities. A good treasurer has to be trustworthy, dependable and hardworking. I believe I have these qualities. I actually keep track of my personal spending and savings on a daily basis (bookkeeping), so I am used to being financially organised. I’ve also got experience in being a treasurer in high school. I oversaw and kept track of my class’ budget, purchases for events and ensured that all financial activities are well-maintained. Also, having studied Accounting and Finance since 8th grade, my proficiency in them, complemented by my experience, will surely assist me in becoming an excellent treasurer. Some of the things I look forward most about being a treasurer is the opportunity to organise events and ultimately enhance BASCer’s time in UCL. I hope to contribute to our thriving Arts and Sciences Community, making it even better than it already is!
I believe that my skills in management and responsible budgeting align perfectly with the responsibilities of the role of Treasurer. With great attention to detail, I am confident in my ability to keep accurate and transparent financial records and allocate the society's resources efficiently.
My previous experience in leading a club and managing its expenditures, and my proficiency in using technical tools as a Sciences and Engineering pathway student make me well-prepared for the challenges that come with this position.
I understand the critical role of the Treasurer in funding the Arts and Sciences Society’s events, such as the socials, parties, and panels. I will work towards expanding our budget and making sure that these events are held more frequently so that our interdisciplinary community comes together and has access to all the resources we can have. By reaching out to sponsors and listening to other members to develop and implement fundraising initiatives, I will ensure that our committee has the financial means to carry out its activities.
I am enthusiastic about collaborating with the rest of the team to ensure that our financial strategies align with the society's mission. As a dedicated and organised individual, I am ready to take on the responsibilities of Treasurer to support our society's financial health and contribute to the success of our events and activities.
Hey everyone, I’m Sophia and hope to be your treasurer for next year! As treasurer I aim to increase funding for our society by furthering the relationship with alumni and running more fundraisers to improve society events.
I am very organized, detail-oriented, and in high school was on committee in six societies, including being treasurer of two, so I have experience managing club funds.
BASc is unique in that we all have very different interests, and of course many of us (myself included) are still figuring out what we want to do with our lives. So, as treasurer I would suggest the following ideas:
- Weekly socials (at pubs, or other fun events like ice skating, rock climbing, go-karting, paint nights etc.) to meet other students on our course
- Socials in collaboration with other UCL societies
- More speaker/career events to hear from professionals in various fields
- Study-groups for first year students to facilitate their integration into uni life
- A BASc trip!
I love the BASc community and believe I have a lot to contribute to improve the society. As your treasurer, I promise to manage our society's funds well and raise money to organize more events! I want to ensure everyone’s ideas are heard, so please feel free to contact me at [email protected]
