Derin Didinedin

Hello everyone, I’m Derin, a second-year student studying Arts and Sciences with a focus on economics and quantitative methods, plus a passion for Artificial Intelligence!

Joining the AI Society has profoundly altered my perspective on technology. The opportunities it has provided me in finding a community of individuals interested in the same topics are unparalleled. With these new perspectives, I would like to give back and engage with the community in a deeper way.

As Head of Operations, my goal would be to cultivate a stronger sense of unity by fostering clear, open communication with our members and offering engaging events. As a society with so many varied opportunities, I believe there is a need for a more holistic way of bringing everyone in the society closer together.

Furthermore, my focus would also be on harmonizing the efforts of our hard-working committee and ensuring cohesive operation and collaboration. Having been on the committee of the Yoga Club this year, one of the largest sports societies at UCL, I am very well experienced in organizing logistics and setting realistic goals to ensure success.

Throughout the past year, I was involved in AI Society as Nexus Lab's Officer, and a researcher under the pillar of Neuroscience. Currently studying MEng Robotics and AI, I really enjoy interdiscplinary studies across fields related to AI, and I would love be involved in more aspects of AI society beyond research to connect students to industry and insights related to AI. Previously, I have led my high school's entrepreneurship club and robotics team, so I hope apply my experience to showcase what the members have achieved and encourage more students to join, coordinating teamwork between multiple branches of AI society.
