Art Business Society: External Relations Officer

I believe that my unique background as a law student can add to the diversity of events which the Art Buiness Society organises for its members. A common misconception is that the art world is very removed from other areas of interest. Passion for arts and culture can be piqued and nurtured at any time. Art lawyers I speak to begin most comically by admitting that they wandered into this field by accident, but quickly found their skills contributing to the dynamism of the art business.

I also hope to showcase the vibrancy and viability of a career in the arts, as well as enrich the development of those who have an established interest. Both demographics will benefit emmensely from extensive professional engagement. Many professionals working in and around the art world are very ameanable to sharing their views and experience. Personally, a visit to Christie's with ABS facilitated introductions to their in-house legal counsel team and allowed me to gain some insight. Our society is a great platform for students to meet mentors and lay the foundations for connections which will bequeath a wealth of opportunity. Savannah has done a wonderful job this past year and I hope to pay her commitment to these goals forward.

Lastly, the success of last year's programme is owed to the outgoing committee and eager members. The camaraderie is so inspriing. Savannah in partiular has done a wonderful job this past year. I hope to pay her commitment forward and take ABS to greater heights!
