Raven Liu

I am currently a first-year student majoring in Management Science. I am running for the position of Events Officer to host a wider variety of offline events, build social media channels, and seek partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.

# What I want to achieve in the Events Officer role

If elected I would aim to:

- Deeply engage with society members by understanding their needs and hobbies, and host a wider variety of offline events aimed at getting various members involved in routine activities to increase the club's closeness and inclusivity.

- Design and build events on social media channels, such as Cosplay video clips, to help members promote their passions and influence; and record more pictures, videos, and even vlogs of club activities to expand the society's influence.

- Seek partnerships with other societies within UCL and anime societies and communities from other universities to co-host events; and seek out new sponsorship opportunities.

# What I will bring to the role

My past experiences with anime and cosplay, combined with skills in organisation, communication, and teamwork, and my passion and determination to drive events and build a stronger community, make me an ideal candidate for this position.

In terms of experience, my passion for cosplay and anime has led me to establish my own brand and social media channels. I have garnered approximately 350k views on TikTok with just two videos and received multiple invitations for collaboration. Noteworthy projects include stage play performances for the

I have actively engaged with the people in society and consistently presented myself at the weekly socials. I have been a member for two years and served as a media officer for one year. As a result, I have had the opportunity to learn about the roles of an events officer and how to achieve these goals. Furthermore, this society has significantly contributed to university life, and I hope it can do the same for future members. Moreover, I possess some photography skills, which can assist me in supporting the work of a media officer and help create a suitable environment for them.

My plan for this year will focus on:

  • Diversified and feedback-driven screenings: I aim to concentrate more on anime movies or binge-watching sessions, but these should also be partly driven by member voting.

  • More activities for weekly socials: We should introduce more quizzes, seasonal screenings and other activities during the socials to make each one unique. Additionally, we may need more board games.

  • Karaoke and cinema sessions: The society can organise trips to karaoke or cinemas together, with limited spaces available from time to time. The society can play a crucial role in helping people foster social cohesion and positive collective memories.
