It is with great enthusiasm that I present my candidacy for the position of ACS Treasurer. As an active ACS member, I have recognised the importance of effective financial management in ensuring the viability and affordability of our events. I am therefore certain that I have the knowledge, skill set and dedication needed to not only improve the current events we hold, but to introduce new, innovative activities that remain within our budget. My experience as a cashier at Selfridges, whereby I handled transactions and maintained financial records, has granted me a solid foundation in financial literacy, whilst my studies of Computer Science have reinforced my mathematical aptitude and ability to analyse data. I am committed to applying this knowledge to ensure the fiscal health of our society.

As Treasurer, I will prioritise transparency in all financial matters, maintaining accurate records of our income and expenditures, providing regular updates to members and ensuring that our financial resources are used efficiently. As someone with extensive connections to industry professionals, I also aim to organise regular workshops to equip our members with financial literacy and investment skills, as, like me, many of our members will come from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and thus have insufficient access to such information.

With your support, I am confident that we can build a stronger, more prosperous ACS that empowers every member. Thank you for your consideration.

Anthony Nkyi

Being a member of the UCL ACS this year has helped me find a wonderful community and space I feel lucky to be a part of. I want to give back to everyone by running as treasurer and contribute to keep the ACS running successfully.

My previous experience in a range of sectors, from working in retail to leading a team of football referees in a cup final, helped me develop strong communication and teamwork skills, vital for any successful treasurer. I study Computer Science and have a keen interest in economics, so I am also confident that the mathematical and organisational skills I have developed from these will transfer well and allow me to accurately manage all transactions, responsibly allocate all funds, and budget activities fruitfully.

I hope to maximise every possible opportunity with the money and resources we have, to continue offering brilliant events and collaborations. Also, I will endorse and support any search for further sponsorship and funding, especially from the Student Union. Having represented the Bedfordshire Football Association as a Youth Council member, I have experience of liaising with people from all backgrounds, essential for building strong relationships with our stakeholders.

If I am elected, I pledge to approach my role meticulously and represent everyone in the ACS passionately, to leave a positive legacy on this society. I’m very excited to join a committee of talented individuals with similar goals and aim to be a big part of our growth.
