As Welfare and Communications Officer, and former First Year Rep, I would now like to use my two years of experience to apply for UCL’s 93% Club President.

Despite my somewhat dodgy Canva skills, I am proud of the work I have done this year to increase our social media following and the number of people attending our events. As President, I will also prioritise making sure people keep coming back for more to really establish a sense of community.

Having recently attended a national 93% meeting, I know we are about to receive a lot more funding from the national club. I will use this money to benefit members, with more free pizza socials, and subsidising 93% merch to really assert our presence on campus.

Arriving at UCL, I was overwhelmed and forgot that coming from state- school is actually very normal! When I first heard of the 93% Club, I assumed it was a statistics society, and when I attended my first social, I was a little scared of Chloe’s rose and thorn ice breaker exercise (sorry Chloe). Now, one and a half years later, I can safely say that Chloe really did break the ice. I have found a group of people I can relate to, Scala with, and call friends for life. As President, I will do everything I can to ensure the club continues to provide a welcoming space for all state-school students to overcome imposter syndrome and build lasting friendships like these.

I hope you will consider voting for me as President. Thank you for taking the time to read why.

Hi everyone! <3

I am standing as President as I would love to continue being on the committee of a society I believe is essential at a university like UCL. After growing up in Northern state schools being taught by supply teachers in classrooms covered in black mould, moving to such an ‘elite’ uni with an Access UCL offer can feel incredibly isolating.

As President, I hope to encourage more students to join the 93% Club by organising frequent social events (think free food ;), pub nights, & more!), social mobility & career events, and collaborations with other UCL & University of London societies.

With my current role as 93%’s Outreach Officer, a 'Student Success' Panellist in the Access UCL & Participation team, a Student Success Day Speaker, and my active involvement in the Volunteering Working Group of both the SU & Volunteering Society, I believe I am well-equipped to take on the leadership of the club next year.

I would love to be President as it's been so reassuring and refreshing to meet lots of friendly & like-minded people who want to make UCL a more viable option for students (like me!) who didn't grow up surrounded by established networks & have been discouraged by friends, family, & even teachers from studying at UCL.

Therefore, as President, I hope our initiatives, events (& efforts!) continue to level the playing field & make us state schoolers feel more comfortable and confident during our time at UCL & in our futures!

Thank you so much for reading! :)
