I joined yoga in second term and one of my biggest regrets from my first year is not joining sooner! I’ve enjoyed my time in the society so much and found everybody so welcoming and friendly, both in person and in the groupchat - I’m usually a person with pretty strong groupchat anxiety but everybody in yoga has been so lovely I really haven’t experienced it with you guys. I would like to be your welfare officer as I’d love to support people within the club and make sure everybody gets the most out of their yoga experience and feels comfortable to be as involved as they want to. I would say I’m suited to this role as I attend a lot of different classes so I’m a face that a lot of people would regularly see, and I would also say I’m approachable, friendly and easy to talk to. Furthermore, as a volunteer outside of university I’ve received pastoral support training and could use my skills from this in the role of welfare officer in yoga. As welfare officer, I would be working alongside social sec to make sure socials are as inclusive as possible - for example, making sure there are sober socials and socials that don’t require lots of money to be spent. I would also just like to be an approachable committee member so that people feel they can come to me with a problem, and make yoga a safe, fun and accessible community - yoga is for all!!
