What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My campaign, BEAT THE POUND, addresses the cost of living crisis. If elected, these are my policy proposals:

  • A 2 year UCL rent freeze
  • Raise the UCL Rent guarantor cap
  • Travel card scheme for commuting students
  • Ensure the 2 year graduate visa route remains
  • Create the largest intercultural festival
  • Save the London students wellbeing centre
  • Double the size of the speed-friending program
  • Work with local charities to improve mental health accessibility
  • Increase air quality monitoring on campus
  • An ‘end of day reduced price on meals’ scheme
  • Deliver the Union Sustainability Training
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My biggest achievement this year as the current Sustainability Officer was passing the Student Union Sustainability Training policy to ensure the Student Union dedicates financial and human resources to develop this training. I hope to continue in these steps and ensure that the sustainability training is rolled out during my term as welfare and community officer. I want to continue championing a student first campus, by focusing on improving accessibility to accommodation, mental health services and food while prioritising the wellbeing of international students and marginalised students.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me because I feel extremely passionate and motivated about this role-  the effort put into designing my campaign theme (BEAT THE POUND) shows that I have thought hard about my policy proposals. All of my policy proposals are backed by evidence and have precedence to ensure that they are achieved. I am very friendly and approachable- I am willing to hear students out and have already done this by designing a manifesto that was built as a result of student advice that I collected. Please do not hesitate to email me- I am always open to addressing questions about my manifesto!
