Hey guys I’m Masaya, 3rd Year Zoology student running for President! (fun part in bold)
After 3 years being in the society, with all the good time I had here, I would like to contribute to the further development and growth of the society, and thank them for the best society experience I had at UCL. I've seen the society from different perspective till now; as a social member, as a team player, and as committee (marketing director); and I feel my experience can be used for our society to evolve even more.
Done for the formal part, let’s bring the fun part: I love this society, and I want more people to love it too!
To do that, one of the first things I will project for next year, is more opportunities for members to feel included in the society: themed-sessions, events on each occasion, and more sports night on Wednesday! (our big society needs to flood scala)
Next, I would like to answer to what most of us felt this year: social sessions on double court! We all felt how squeezed up we were so let's change that shall we. Two session per week, double court, beginner sessions too; all we need for everybody to be satisfied!
And something I really want to organize with all of us: a society tournament! Have a day just playing volleyball with everybody till dead!
Those who wants to see that coming, vote for me. I am the one who will translate your love for volleyball into the best club activity.
Thank you for taking your time to read, and I hope I will see you guys on court!
Hi!
I am Morris, a Y2 biochemistry student and your current Men’s team captain. From playing in games, going to social volleyball and organising as a committee member, I have learned the ins and outs of the club.
Moreover, I believe I can bring my experience in organising social volleyball to the UCL scene. As an admin for a London-based Chinese volleyball society that runs weekly sessions, I am well aware of the expectations and responsibilities of organising social events.
These are just some of the improvements that I wish to bring to the UCL volleyball club:
- Have all court bookings sorted pre-season (minimum 2 two-hour social sessions per week). Our club’s court time at Somerstown is limited, but from organising sessions outside I have met many people in charge of the different venues in London. I believe I can secure courts for the ever-increasing demands of the club!
- Organise competitive games for social players. Currently, in the Chinese volleyball society we are training for the All Nations tournament that happens every year in London. Going from a social scene to a team vibe is something that is very exciting and I wish to bring that here.
- Make the ordering of associated merchandise available at the start of the academic year. This allows everyone to feel represented right from the start.
- Purchase new balls. It's about time to upgrade our equipment.
- Have social events that bring together the team and social players of the club.
To an amazing year!
