Being a passionate advocate for social justice and international cooperation, I have experience volunteering in Laos and with SEN and ethnic minority children and have actively participated in MUN conferences. I am confident in my ability in promoting UCLUNA within the UCL community and leading a group of volunteers in promoting the UN mission.

To begin with, increasing UCLUNA's visibility is my top priority, which can be done by organizing more frequent social and networking events. Through a partnership with other societies and co-hosting joint events, we have the opportunity to foster collaboration and promote UCLUNA.

We can also reach out to high schools and promote our Volunteering Programme, offering opportunities to UCL and high school students and raising awareness about the United Nations and its work. By creating these partnerships, we can strengthen the society's position as a leading advocate for social justice and international cooperation in the UCL community.

Additionally, I intend to develop the Careers Programme, through the provision of opportunities to get involved in humanitarian work via partnerships with NGOs and liaising with embassies, offering members a chance to gain practical experiences while contributing to meaningful causes.

I believe that my passion for the UN Mission and my experience in volunteering and leadership renders me a strong candidate for Vice President for Outreach, and I implore you to give me a vote of confidence.

Madelyn Small

Hi everyone!

I’m Maddie and I study Politics, Sociology and Eastern European Studies. For the past two years I’ve been an active committee member of UCLUNA as Volunteering Officer (21-22) and MUN Director (22-23) and I am so excited to (hopefully) continue as VP of Outreach in the coming year because I’ve loved working in this society.

As VP of outreach, I plan to organise high quality events, such as several large speaker events and embassy tours throughout the year, coordinating with broader global themes so that society members gain exposure to inspiring, real-world leaders. I also hope to create more career opportunities with career panels and networking events so that UCLUNA members can prepare for their future careers in diplomacy. I am very passionate about volunteering, which is why I hope to expand UCLUNA’s volunteering programme to foster awareness and fundraise for issues our members, and the United Nations, care about.

Furthermore, I am very excited to oversee UCLUNA’s social events with the help of the events director to foster a further sense of community. From the classic pub socials and pizza nights to bowling and karaoke, I’m positive all society members will enjoy themselves throughout the year!

I have lots of exciting ideas and would love to contribute to the growth of the outreach department next year as your VP! Feel to contact me for any more information :)
