Goksu Danaci

Merhaba! My name is Göksu and I’m a second year Politics, Sociology and East European Studies student. Eager to represent my love for my culture in the best way possible, I am running for President of the Turkish Society.

This urge of duty to represent my culture started when I came to this country at the age of 17 by myself, as I was the only Turkish student at school. During boarding school I had a chance to serve as the Deputy Head Girl and Head of House. This gave me an opportunity to coordinate many events as well as enhancing my communication skills acting as a bridge between the school administration and my friends.

I am motivated to become a leader and make sure all committee members work in unison to have a productive year. I'm sure this will help us enrich and preserve our cultural values and keep our community together. I am serving as the Operational Executive since our earthquake donation campaign this year. 

As UCL Turkish Society, I believe we can be much more engaged with our community in London, and create our own tradition as Turkish students at UCL. To this end, I want to organise events such as but not limited to, regular socials within the UCL Turkish Society as well as Turkish Societies of other UK universities. I will try to make sure all of our projects that have been agreed by our committee, will be recognized and safeguarded by the Turkish Consulate and/or Turkish Embassy.
