Iker Hernaez Sanz

Hello everyone!

My name is Iker Hernaez, and I am extremely excited to become your new Vice-President.

Within UCL Tennis, I am currently exerting the role of M1 captain: one of the main triggers that has caused the will to adopt this new position within the society. My time during this new role will most importantly focus on improving performance amongst every single tennis team. I believe that becoming VP will provide me with the opportunity and resources needed to support captains in order to achieve this. Managing the society from this new perspective is a motivating challenge for me, and I hope that my time during VP will allow the competitive teams to be back where they belong.

To know more about my candidacy don't miss out on the 2023/2024 committee speeches!

Thank you!

Devlin Guthrie

Hi, I’m Devlin! I’ve been in tennis society for 2 years now, and I’ve had such a great time getting to know so many of you at r&d, trainings, and socials! This year, I was lucky to be nominated W2 captain, which has been a tremendously rewarding experience that I am grateful for. It has allowed me to continue practicing leadership and organisational skills that I know will be very helpful for this committee position. I have also had past experience in a management and budgeting position during this past summer, where I organised my own team to teach youth sports.

Reflecting on this year, tennis has been the best society I’ve been a part of and a great escape from courseworks and daily stresses. I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people and participating in all the fun events that the society plans off the court. That said, I do think that we, as a committee, could improve by talking more with members about what they like and perhaps what they would like to see improved. If elected, I’d like to make this the first thing I do and something I continue to check-in with people about. Overall, I think I have a lot of qualities that would make me a good Vice President for all of you and this society, and I promise I will do my best to honour these campaign promises. Thank you :)

Kavish Shetty

I am passionate about tennis and am excited to apply for the Vice President position available in your esteemed society. I have been playing tennis for nearly a decade and have played in competitive matches, giving me a wealth of experience that I can bring to the society. I have previous experience in professional teamwork, when I interned for BNP Paribas in Mumbai. This has provided me with the necessary skills to support the President and Treasurer, and collaborating with other committee members to ensure smooth operation of the society. I am thrilled about the opportunity to develop a calendar plan of main events and communicate it to relevant committee members. My drive to plan and execute events will allow me to excel in this aspect of the role. Moreover, I look forward to coming up with innovative ideas that will engage all members of the society. I am committed to ensuring that socials and trainings are executed as planned and providing support where necessary. As someone who has attended weekly training sessions, I understand the importance of ensuring that they are executed effectively. Finally, the role involves handling sponsorships. I believe in my ability to communicate effectively with potential sponsors and develop strong relationships that will benefit the society. My experience as a budget manages in my school’s TEDx team has provided me with the necessary skills to manage finances effectively and ensure that the society operates within its budget.
