Kannan Murugan

Hi I'm Kannan Murugan.

I've been part of R&D, Lusl and BUCS at UCL tennis.  As you can see it's been a long arduous journey, I've had to learn to bring out the best in me to make it to M3. Likewise, I hope that as Captain I can bring out the best in the team.

Tennis has been an important part of my life. It's helped me become not only a better competitor but a better person as well. I hope that I can help others find the same sense of joy that I find in tennis.

Being part of this team has truly given me a sense of camaraderie and I hope that I can maintain that sense of unity.

Lastly, as captain, I will make sure to show up to all the training sessions.

Leo Saiu-Bell

Hi everyone, I’m Leo, a current M3 player and captain of LUSL Rec. I’ve played a lot of tennis my whole life, always seeking out opportunities to improve and contribute to the sport, such as coaching for multiple years. It’s been very rewarding that in my two years already spent in Tennis Society, I’ve been able to use these coaching skills volunteering at R&D and captaining LUSL Rec. Through these experiences, I’ve honed these vital leadership and organisational skills that would be needed as M3 captain. Furthermore, since the positions are so similar, I know that I could adjust easily and be a very successful M3 captain. Being a player and a captain this year has also gifted me the knowledge of how this society runs and how our teams thrive. I would like to continue prioritising team socials to introduce new and returning players, while also boosting team camaraderie. I also want to encourage more players to go to Wednesday socials and charity events so they meet more people and become more involved in the society overall. Hopefully, if elected M3 captain, I can lead the team to 1st place like I have for LUSL Rec (even beating our LUSL team).

Oliver Abt McGregor

I have played for M3 throughout my first year at UCL and have been a committed member of the team, attending training and playing league matches regularly throughout the season. I am running for captain next year as I want to continue our great performances in the league this year and I believe my leadership and fighting spirit can lead us to even higher heights next year.

My main objective as captain would be to make the team more united through different social events such as team curry nights, pub socials and team dinners, making the team a more enjoyable and social experience as well as hopefully integrating with other BUCS and LUSL teams to get more of our society involved. I am keen to encourage greater participation in our weekly training sessions to establish doubles pairings for matches as well as aiming to organise extra courts outside of practice to challenge for our goal of winning the league title next year.
