Taekwondo Club: General Secretary

In being a part of Taekwondo this year, it has brought me new opportunities, new friends and truly become a highlight of my UCL experience. I'd like to be nominated for the position of General Secretary in order to give back to the club and continue the amazing experience Taekwondo provides for people. It is thanks to the work of the committee that the club is able to do so well and I would like to contribute to this.

I believe I would be suitable for this role as I pride myself in clear communication and being well organised. Furthermore I would like the opportunity to build leadership skills and give back to a community that does so much for its members. I also look forward to working closely with other members of the committee in this position.

Hopefully by being nominated at General Secretary, I'll be able to upkeep the amazing work of previous officers and also put work into a club that so many of us value. I believe in commitment and responsibility and intend to dedicate myself to the role and hopefully achieve much satisfaction back.

Hi my lovely tkd people, this is Leanne :)

Since joining taekwondo in September, having never kicked anyone in my life (...), I have fallen in love with the club and everyone who we see every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday (as well as Monday, …Thursday... and Friday?!). The club is such a fast-paced, high-energy and caring space and it is so motivating seeing everyone working with the coaches to push themselves every session. It would be the delight of my life if I could be part of the committee next year making sure these great *vibes* stick around.

I am an admin girly and have devoted my life to Microsoft excel; I am ready to exercise as many spreadsheets as you guys can handle in organising everything that is called for as general secretary. I will ensure that I am timely and efficient when handling all of the logistics to make sure our gradings, travel and competitions (u c whaaat) happen smoothly and that everyone is where they need to be. I love a good form, will be emailing up a storm, and am ready to crescent kick the Students’ Union in the head to make sure we meet all our deadlines.

The main thing is that I hope that together we can help foster a friendly and safe space that anyone can come to chat to about any of their concerns (meeting finances, health or social worries, a giggle about ITF, how to actually tie the belts, how to achieve a truly stellar sit-up etc.). Anyways, I am here for a hug, a chit-chat and to sort anything out that you need me to. <3
