Election post
Hi, I'm Zahra, current Plastic Surgery Chair & iBSc Surgical Sciences.
My work as Plastics Chair:
- Held one of the largest single specialty conference in Surgical Society history.
- Held a 10-week Plastic Surgical Skills Course
- Co-organised a Hackathon with PLASTA (Plastic Surgery Trainee Association)
- Built a robust link with the Royal Free Plastics department leading to teaching invitations for students.
I am proficient in SU administrative tasks & will be able to make this less tedious for the committee.
My strategy in line with the Royal College of Surgeons.
- COLLABORATION
I will encourage each specialty chair to hold at least one collaborative event between different specialties, universities or in conjunction with the surgical department.
- INNOVATION
I will create a new "Innovation Chair” responsible for organising a Hackathon and AI events.
- RESEARCH
I am passionate about research in surgery and next year I will work with specialty chairs to create a comprehensive list of surgical projects for students to get involved in.
Surgical experience:
- Invited to present at the Surgical Research Society leading to publication in the British Journal of Surgery,
- 2 papers awaiting peer review.
- Observed/assisted in more than 50 cases.
My success as Plastics chair is shown from the events held and the increased @uclpras Instagram engagement. I am dedicated to building on the work of the current committee to make 2023/24 a great year for Surgical Society.
