Joshua Ferreira
My name’s Josh – I’m a fourth year and I’ve got great plans for the ENT subdivision of Surgical Society next year! Having held a position on the ENT subcommittee this year, I witnessed first-hand the role of the ENT chair and would love to lead its committee next year. Here’s why I reckon I’d be a good fit:
- This year I helped run the “Day in the Life” series we ran with head & neck and nasal surgeons to inspire people into ENT – I’d love to continue this with other ENT subspecialties since they have been invaluable to students keen on learning more about what a career in ENT involves
- I have a real passion for ENT and a real desire to get more people interested in this amazing and often overlooked specialty – I have been hooked on ENT ever since I started an audit in rhinology and want to draw more students into the wonders of it!
- I have great ideas for this year: I want to start a mentoring series for us to have inspirational surgeons that can link medical students with research opportunities and time in theatre – I already know ENT surgeons keen to help with this. I’d like to put on an ENT conference at UCL with networking and clinical skills workshops (airway management, otoscopy) too
- Having held previous leadership roles, including RUMS Music President 2022-23, I have experience in organising a series of successful events and would love the same for ENT this year
I am keen, enthusiastic, and passionate about ENT and would love to share these qualities with you all!
