Gagan Riyat

I would like to take on the role as welfare officer because I believe finding a community with like-minded individuals can help alleviate the stress and pressure that comes with being a university student. I would love to organise social gatherings that bring people together and raise awareness on the topic of mental health and on how we can incorporate the teachings of Sikhi to better our mental state. I would also love to organise more casual events that provide a safe space for members to unwind and have a fun time. I believe that with the experience of being a mental health mentor for secondary school students I have the skill set necessary to aid members of Sikh Society with their mental wellbeing and to be someone that they can reach out to at any time.

Shweta Sharma

Hi! My name is Shweta and I am currently studying Population Health Sciences with Data Science. During my first year at the society, I had the privilege of serving as a First Year Representative. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the committee, building strong friendships with committee members, and contributing to various events. This experience has allowed me to stay connected with my Sikh religion.

I am passionate about supporting the well-being of individuals in the community, and I believe that the role of Welfare Officer is an opportunity for me to make a positive impact. If selected for this role, I would work to provide resources and support for members of the society who may be struggling with mental or emotional challenges.

Additionally, I would work to ensure that the society is an inclusive and supportive space for all members. I believe that my experience in supporting others and my passion for the Sikh community would make me a valuable member of the committee. I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving the Sikh Society and contributing to its mission and goals.

Chiranjeev Singh Kurana

As a welfare officer, I have the opportunity to help and support others in need. I have a passion for helping others and making a positive impact on people's lives, therefore being a welfare officer for a Sikh society is a great fit. I also believe I am suitable due to my strong interpersonal skills, such as active listening, empathy, and communication. This opportunity can help portray these skills in a suitable role alongside improving these necessary skills.

I understand the Sikh culture and values which makes me an ideal candidate so I can bring value to this society. This is since I have been apart of a culture since childhood via volunteering in Gurdwara regularly. On the other hand, I can continue to learn and further build my knowledge in this role.Being able to Seva(selfless service) is an important principle for us in Sikhism. Being welfare officer is an opportunity for me to do Seva, supporting others.

Being a welfare officer provides an opportunity to create a supportive community within the Sikh society. I  want to contribute build a strong community that values support, kindness and inclusivity. These reasons are why I am hopeful and passionate to be welfare officer at Sikh society
