Hi I’m Kiran and I would love to be your Year 4-6 Academic VP!
This role requires effective communication between our student body and the med school: I have extensive experience working as a rep and leading rep teams, which I feel makes me well-suited for this.
- As a lead Y4 rep this year and a rep for the past 4 years, I have engaged in many meetings with the med school to help improve your learning experience as tomorrow’s doctors. I will continue to work tirelessly to deliver your views, and inform you with what changes are being made.
- Last year, I also held the role of RUMS Academic Pre-Clin VP. I therefore have a realistic understanding of the commitment required, what this job entails, and how the med school operates. Through this, I have also developed strong relationships with key medical school staff, critical for this role.
I pledge to:
- Be transparent: ensuring all meeting progress are posted regularly onto the year group chats.
- Closely consult with UCLMS and BMA reps about potential UKFPO changes and advocate for earlier guidance about SFP applications
- Work closely with RUMS Welfare and M4M to improve provisions for clinical academic-related stress
- Liaise to encourage prompt delivery of timetables and deadline timelines
- Help standardise teaching across modules, the 4 sites (including Barnet) and DGHs.
- Work with the curriculum map team to seek greater clarity about pharm content to develop an improved drug guide.
Please feel free to contact

Hi! My name is Loki and I am excited to be running for the position of RUMS VP for Academic Representation in Years 4-6. As a fourth-year medical student, I am deeply committed to ensuring that my fellow students get the most out of their education. If elected, I will work my hardest to lay the groundworks for lasting positive change in your clinical education.
I have held the position of Academic Rep in Y1/3 and am currently serving as the RUMS Badminton Treasurer 22/23 and Y4 Lead Academic Rep C/A. As a lead academic rep and based on my research of various student staff consultative committee meetings, I was able to identify some key issues that I aim to tackle if elected:
- Work with the medical school to ensure transparent and timely resolution of timetabling issues
- Standardise ASR timetables by providing accurate contact details and locations for all teaching.
- Introduce a Specialty Induction template for site-specific leads to fill in at the start of each term
- Working with the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Unit to publish regular updates about actioned feedback.
- Introducing in-person formative assessments
- Fix Moodle forum
- Work on the RUMS Academics platform
I am dedicated to serving as an advocate for all students and will work tirelessly to ensure that the academic experience of students in Y4-6 is the best it can be. Specific detail regarding how I intend to fulfil my pledges as well as my endorsements can be found in my full manifesto.
