Sat sri akaal!
I'm Simi and I'm a first year student studying Biochemistry.
My love for Punjabi culture started young growing up in a big stereotypical crazy Punjabi family. I believe the culture has a lot to offer: lively parties, delicious food, dancing, vibrant outfits and being inclusive to all.
From a young age, I have always attended and taught at my local Punjabi school. This allowed me to reach out and connect with people who have common beliefs and morals as me. I firmly believe that everyone deserves the love and support I receive from this community, regardless of background.
Having been a teacher at the Punjabi school for the past 5 years, I was responsible for organising and advertising events and lessons to engage and attract more students. I was able to identify interests and tailor material to the students and parents.
Being a member of my council when I was at school, I have a lot experience in using my creativity to sell events and make them stand out. Working in retail for 3 years has also improved my communication and time management skills.
My overall aim is to expand the society's visibility at UCL to give anyone the opportunity to benefit from being involved :)
Hello everyone! I am Hannah, and I am currently a first-year student in BSc. Bioprocessing of New Medicines (Business and Management). As an international student from Punjab, my cultural heritage is an integral part of my identity and my experience in a foreign country. Celebrating and promoting Punjabi culture is of utmost importance to me as it helps me feel connected to my roots and community.
Furthermore, I believe my experience as the marketing manager for H&H, where I successfully operated the company's social media page, and my role as ECA prefect for my school, where I helped organize international round square conferences, have equipped me with the necessary skills to excel in this role. Moreover, I founded the debate club for YPS, which has provided me with a unique perspective on the importance of communication, coordination, and leadership. I am confident that these experiences have prepared me well for the challenges that come with being a marketing officer.
If elected, I promise to take all necessary initiatives to organize various events. I will use my skills and experience to create engaging content for our social media platforms and work tirelessly to promote our society's goals and values. Additionally, I am committed to providing excellent communication and coordination between the society and its members, ensuring that everyone feels included and informed.
Overall, my passion for Punjabi culture and my personal connection to it make me an excellent candidate for this role. I have the potential to make a
